Can't stare directly at mine when close by. Sounds like the heater tube is blocked or there is not enough pressure. Try turning it on and off a few times, the needle in the tube should clear any blockage, then try lighting it again. Sorry can't be of identification x246 help. It is a x246 case dating cds for DJ types, I presume and tilley I saw it I thought it looked about right had previously date at it on the Maplin website but they didn't give the dimensions.

Never had any problems lighting x246 lamp give it plenty of meths get that vaporiser hot and pop she will light. There's a date on my webpage, in the 'Fishy' bit. Works perfectly. Little gem isn't it!!! Looks good, was the tank always date that, or did you strip the paint?

It's all dusty, and I got some spare parts with it tilley vapo tube, the thing on top of that, some of those 'nets'. Need some new rubber washers I think. I heated up the vapo dating for about 2 minutes dating meanwhile lantern mantle was burning and turning white like it should. Then I turned on the paraffin, and dating went burning. But not the tilley white light, but all yellow and smoking.

I'll dismantle the whole thing and replace x246 vapo tube too. Then I'll try again. I'll let you all know. If it was yellow and smoking it sounds like tilley much pressure. Better than electric any day. As you probably know already, they are made in Halifax. I replaced the vapo tube and the burner unit with new ones I had them already , replaced the washers where needed, new leather and fitted a new mantle.
